Sign making tips

1. For ~ $10 you can get a 8'x2' two inch thick piece blueboard (styrofoam insulation) at the hardware store. Makes a great lightweight sign- you can paint directly on it, one person can hold it, and it'll stand up in the wind.

2. The FreewayBlogger makes perfectly lettered signs (in whatever font you choose) by printing the text on a transparency, then projecting it onto the signboard and tracing the outline, then painting. Extra work but you get professional results, clear lettering that's easy to read from a distance- might be worth the extra time if you have access to an overhead projector. A small team of sign-makers could get a production line going and make a bunch of excellent signs in no time.

3. Pick a target audience and say something meaningful to them. Is your target to enlighten Bush Believers, or to convince those on the fence, or to motivate those that know but are 'too busy' to do anything about it ie:

Shake and Wake Bush Believers:
Supporting Bush is Endangering (or Killing) our Troops

Motivational:
if not now, when?  if not you, who?

Often times people get caught up in using a familiar slogan- so much so that it becomes ineffective. If you're going to make a sign, please spend some time thinking about the message you hope to convey, and if possible, move beyond the standard slogans. Ask yourself this question- What % of target audience will be affected by your sign, and how many will just blow it off?
